Season 1 Episode 6

Send us a text

In this special episode of Law at the End of the World, Liz and Cristy  explore the future of environmental law with a focus on the oceans, coinciding with the United Nations Oceans Conference in Nice. In the 'let's chat' segment of this oceans special Liz and Cristy bring snippets from an interactive discussion with leading oceans governance experts and thinkers Karen Fisher, Emily Parke, Dan Hikuroa and Linda Faulkner. This conversation delves into the complexities of ocean governance, emphasising the need for inclusive approaches that account for Indigenous knowledge and local perspectives as well as western science. Cristy and Liz contextualise the discussion by referring to key legal theories relevant to environmental law, including legal pluralism. As usual Liz and Cristy give their 'hot takes' on legal developments relevant to environmental law. It's a longer episode than usual, but you can dip in and out to the parts that suit you (excuse the pun!).
